Huangshan Travel Guide - Luxury Travel in Huangshan
Huangshan City, once called Hui Zhou, lies in the southernmost of Anhui Province. It borders with Zhejiang Province in the east and Jiangxi in the south. Locating on the upper reach of Xinan River, Huangshan City was named Xinan after the river. In 1987, the city was renamed after the well-know Yellow Mountains which cover much of the city's large geographic expanse.
The city boasts two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Yellow Mountains and Hongcun and Xidi, the ancient villages of southern Anhui. The tourists not only climb the magnificent Mount Huangshan, but also experience the Hui culture in the well-preserved ancient houses, shrines and on the streets and bridges. Huangshan City is one of the leading tourist destinations for visitors from both home and abroad.
The tourists can buy some local products including amber candied dates, Huangshan Green Peony (a special peony tea), Taiping Houkui Tea (green tea), Huangshan Mao Feng (one of top 10 teas in China), Huizhou Chinese torreya, gyrophora, and She County kumquat. Besides, some local exquisite crafts is also the best souvenirs for visitors such as Huizhou lacquers, carvings (including woodcarvings, stone carvings and tile carvings) and She ink-slab.
Huangshan airport, full name Huangshan Tunxi International Airport, is situated in the west of Tunxi District, about 71 kilometers away from Mount Huangshan. There are 21 air routes linking up Huangshan and Beijing, Xiamen, Xian, Guangzhou,Shenzhen, Chengdu and Hefei etc..
